The Connecticut State Department of Education’s Office of Dyslexia and Reading Disabilities (ODRD) has partnered with agencies from across the state to advance a year-long Dyslexia Awareness Campaign.

The campaign features a series of coordinated activities designed to promote awareness and a shared understanding of dyslexia, with the goal of ensuring equitable student identification and support.

How You Can Help . . .

  1. Contact your local library, at your earliest convenience, to discuss their willingness/availability to put up a visual display. If your library space is not available, book the next available date that works for your library, as anytime is a good time to raise awareness!!!

  2. Discuss with the head librarian why raising dyslexia awareness is so important to you as a parent/teacher/community member.

  3. Inquire about the type and size of space available at the library: shelf space, wall space, location in the library (children’s room, common space).

  4. Print out in color (or email to the head librarian) the materials on this page for the librarian to create the display.

  5. Offer to help set up and select books for display.  Book suggestions are contained on the display information.

  6. Take pictures of the display and send them to Decoding Dyslexia-CT so we can promote the Campaign and your library!
